Dear Mayor Menino, Transportation Director Jacobs and Vice President Timilty,

I am writing to demand that First Student, the School Department and the City stop union busting and negotiate a fair contract with Boston School Bus Drivers immediately. First Student has a $343 million no-bid contract with a $6 million bonus, yet it is continuing to hold the city's school children and families hostage to its corporate greed by failing to negotiate in good faith. The bus drivers' contract expired on June 30. If a contract agreement is not reached by August 21, the date of the bid for bus route assignments for the new school year, transportation for the opening of school will be needlessly disrupted for the parents and students of Boston. Boston's school bus drivers have provided safe, quality transportation for desegrated education to the students and parents of Boston since 1974. They deserve economic justice now.
